In February, Colas Danmark A/S held the annual workshop for their production employees. Logimatic participated in the internal presentation of the new maintenance program INEXTIA, which is now commissioned at most locations.
Maintenance data entry has already become a reality for many of the people responsible for the daily maintenance planning at Colas Danmark A/S. The digitization process is actually requested by several maintenance people and the enthusiasm was therefore great at the introduction of INEXTIA at the annual workshop.
Many questions were asked about the system, how to use it and what it means for the individual employee. The questions were both system and technology related, such as “Can we postpone a task?” and “Can we upload PDF Word files, photos, reports and manuals from our phone directly into INEXTIA?” which Mikkel Haldrup Jensen, Energy Advisor at Colas Danmark A/S, confirmed along with a host of other questions.
There was some skepticism about the workload associated with entering maintenance, to which Mikkel Haldrup Jensen replied, “We need to focus on entering data on essential maintenance, i.e. the machines, components and spare parts that are expensive, time consuming and contribute to breakdowns. We shouldn’t write every time we change a nut, but focus on the information that makes sense for us going forward.”
Signe Skelgaard, User Experience Consultant from Logimatic attended the workshop and says, “INEXTIA is based on our current maintenance system SERTICA with more than 10,000 users, and we are actually used to facing skepticism when implementing new IT systems. This is true no matter what type of company we are talking about. It is therefore not surprising that Colas is asking questions to INEXTIA.”
Mikkel Haldrup Jensen also explained at the workshop why a digitalized maintenance system is important for Colas Danmark A/S: “We ensure that important knowledge is not lost and get the opportunity to do preventive maintenance, resulting in fewer breakdowns and repairs. Ultimately, this means better planning of our resources.”
Signe Skelgaard elaborates, “We find that many maintenance people have all the necessary information in their heads, Excel spreadsheets or homemade systems, which is also the case at Colas Danmark A/S. However, I see a great willingness and desire for digitization at Colas and especially towards the use of mobile devices in maintenance work.
When the workshop was officially over, INEXTIA apps were installed on several phones and the discussion continued happily. There is no doubt that Mikkel will be busy in the coming time giving an introduction and working through the data structure in INEXTIA at the different locations.
