Faerch

Greater mobility and a shared overview of tasks, along with a spare parts inventory accessible through the app, enhance efficiency.

INEXTIA app optimizes the maintenance process and increases efficiency

Faerch is a leading supplier of food packaging worldwide. With a production consisting of both the design process, recyclable plastic production and the actual production of food packaging, they have established a global presence from their headquarters in Holstebro.

Sustainability is an integral part of all aspects of Faerch and this has naturally placed demands on production. Likewise, documentation is important to ensure that the packaging meets applicable quality and safety requirements.

Lack of overview of data

With production extruding around 30,000 tons of recycled PET per year, it also places high demands on maintenance. Production runs around the clock and must avoid any breakdowns.

Increased production meant an increasing number of maintenance tasks, which created a need to focus on internal knowledge sharing across teams. Better planning came on the agenda to ensure that the right maintenance tasks are actually done.

In particular, the overview of data and the spare parts inventory were important to anticipate maintenance tasks and ensure that the inventory did not fall below the minimum.

Active use of data history

To build data history, Faerch has registered one-off jobs on tools in INEXTIA. This gives them an insight into the costs, which at the same time also shows the consumption of goods on the individual tool.

Brian Amstrup Jensen says: ”We used to have a system that required a lot of manual updating. INEXTIA has helped to simplify this, so that updates are done directly by the technician.

Faerch also manages purchasing in INEXTIA, which makes it possible to connect upcoming maintenance tasks with missing spare parts. Brian experiences a good synergy effect by combining purchasing and maintenance in the same system. This ensures that the spare parts needed to complete a maintenance task are available in stock. Faerch receives a daily email via Analytics with information about their stock levels. This shows if a spare part has fallen below the minimum stock level or if a delivery date has been exceeded on a purchase order.

Brian elaborates ”We can optimize our purchasing routines as we now have an overview of which spare parts are used where. Often the same spare part is needed at several locations, and now we can order several spare parts together, saving both time and money.

Today, analytics reports help them get the most out of data. For example, they have created a report for ventilation filters so they know exactly when to purchase and replace them.

In addition, Faerch generates an overview of all equipment that needs calibration and when it should be performed. This is used for their certifications and also helps administration as the list is updated automatically based on calibration jobs.

Maintain overview with the INEXTIA app

With the INEXTIA App, the entire team can take a list of the day’s tasks with them around the factory. They can create new maintenance tasks via the app, complete a task and at the same time register which spare parts are picked from the warehouse.

When they are at a machine, the INEXTIA app allows them to scan a QR code on the machine and check if there are additional tasks to complete. By completing multiple tasks during one visit to the machine, the time spent on task completion is optimized.

Brian notes: “We have the ability to create one-off tasks via the app and at the same time attach pictures of any damage. Documenting these ad hoc tasks gives us a good history and overview of how we spend our time.”

The app increases efficiency

Faerch sees several advantages of INEXTIA – and they especially like the app. It provides greater mobility and an overview of both tasks and spare parts inventory. This means they always know what’s in stock.

In addition to the inventory overview, Faerch also utilizes the ability to attach documents and access them via the app. They do this on electrical diagrams, for example, where the documentation is visible directly on the component via the app. Working hours have been optimized as they can now see if there are multiple jobs on the same machine via the app. Overall, INEXTIA has helped Faerch improve their maintenance process and increase efficiency.

Brian concludes: ”Scheduling maintenance in INEXTIA has given us a clear job list that gives us peace of mind. We no longer have to stress about a lot of unnecessary unresolved tasks on our job list. And with the app, we have increased mobility, which has resulted in a more efficient operation of our factory .”
