Colas Denmark A/S makes working procedures more efficient with INEXTIA at workshop in Viborg
Colas Danmark A/S has several workshops in Denmark to perform service and repairs on rolling stock. From the workshop in Viborg, the maintenance staff support both Jutland and Funen. During the winter months, the majority of planned maintenance and service is carried out as the rolling stock is not in use. This also means that many road crews work at the workshop during this period.
At Colas Danmark A/S, it is primarily the workshops and factories that have started using INEXTIA. Just two months after purchasing the system, the workshop in Viborg has started using it actively every day. They create, delegate, execute and complete jobs – both from their computer and via the INEXTIA Job app.
Henrik Kusk, Equipment Manager, says, “With INEXTIA, we can keep an eye on when a machine needs service and we avoid having to go through paperwork just to discover, that the planned maintenance was never registered or carried out.”
Digitalized maintenance and the battle against the power of habits
Colas’ workshop in Viborg uses the system to plan maintenance, create jobs, describe repairs and for general documentation. Technical drawings, manuals, images and invoices are uploaded.
Henrik Kusk tells, “A digitalized platform for maintenance is necessary in a modern company. The digital solution reduces the risk of losing important information because worksheets and records are gathered in one place. It also makes everyday work easier once you get used to working with the system.”
At the workshop in Viborg, all new machines are created in INEXTIA. Creating and completing a job is fast when it is done electronically. Workshop foreman Thomas Larsen says: “Once a job is created in the system, it doesn’t disappear. I currently have 36 tasks, and the best thing about INEXTIA is that we don’t forget tasks, which creates great satisfaction among the road crews.”
With a cloud-based maintenance system, you have easy access to information even when you’re not in the office. Maintenance workers get their jobs via an app that tells them what jobs need to be done today and when the deadline is. Thomas Larsen says: “Being able to plan and delegate tasks electronically makes my life easier. It also means that my people can complete tasks themselves.”
Thomas Larsen tells, “The system has generally received positive interest, and I think it is pretty cool that our oldest employee is best at using the system.”
New digital processed creates bigger efficiency
The new digital processes at Colas Danmark A/S make demands on the maintenance staff. At the workshop in Viborg, they are already experiencing that everyday work has become more efficient. Thomas Larsen says: “When we swap machines between teams, we can now access service agreements and history electronically, so we no longer have to carry a folder under our arm.”
Henrik Kusk continue: “With our previous paper system, we found that our records were incomplete. Now we actually see that there are more gems that we can use in the future. This is a sign that the maintenance people have really started using INEXTIA and that they understand the value of the system. ”
Especially the history is of great importance to Colas Danmark A/S, as they can learn from previous errors and follow up on repairs. In short, INEXTIA makes it easier to stay focused on maintenance.
Documentation in INEXTIA also makes it easier for Colas Danmark A/S to follow all the legal requirements in the industry. The system is used to remind maintenance staff when an inspection is due. For example, it could be a gate or a ladder that needs a safety check according to legal requirements. This also means that Colas Danmark A/S will always be at the forefront of safety in the company’s work areas.
